Nicholas, what is the SL? You left a very confusing comment in my blog under my post about the latest instance of police brutality that had something to do with Proyect. I don't understand what you mean at all. Please clarify.
Sorry Binh. I linked to you via the unrepentent refromist Marxist, Louis Proyect. I agreed with your comment on the Cannon talk the most and felt the most sympathy for your perseprctive.
SL is short for the Spartacist League, a Trotskyist group that I am a sympathiser of. I simply feel irritated by leftists who like to start ad hominum attacks on groups or make baseless statements like "They are crazy!" with no evidence. This is just what the Democrats and republicans say. None of this has anything to do with you however. Just a clearification.
Thank you for your post.
I'm not at all sympathetic to the Sparts but labelling them crazy doesn't explain anything. I personally think they are ultra-left purists, sectarian, and sometimes their newspaper engages in hysterical denunciations of other left groups (the ISO supposedly collaborates with the KKK, for example).
Crazy is a word I would use to describe a group like the LaRouchites, whose politics shift day to day based on the whim of one man. Now that's crazy.
Thank you for bringing this too my attention. I was not aware of this event!
